Redingote Coat

This redingote style coat features a stand-up collar, tailored upper body, from the waist the coat begins to a-line out slightly, the front curves from the knee down to a mid-calf length. The sleeves are neatly fitted into the armholes for mobility. Finished with black corozo buttons, two front welt pockets, a double inverted box-pleated back, and full lining, the coat offers structure without restriction.

The fabric is finished using an emulsified wax technique inspired by a 1910 waterproofing patent, producing a breathable, weather-resistant cotton with a soft, aged appearance. Washable, line dry, and light iron. Natural wax markings are inherent to the fabric.

In the early 1800s, the men’s frock coat inspired the women’s redingote, a fitted outer garment influenced by riding coats and military dress.
