Shelley Dress

The Shelley Dress features a softly tailored bodice, balanced with a fuller gathered skirt that falls with gentle volume at midi length. A curved collar neckline, while appliquéd gathers and delicate ruffled details bring texture and movement. The ruffles are cut on the bias, allowing for natural soft fraying at the edges, an intentional detail that contributes to the garment’s character over time. Practical elements include side seam pockets, long sleeves, and a concealed back zip with collar fastening for a clean finish.

The dress is crafted from Japanese cotton dyed poplin, produced using a traditional hand-dyeing process. Fabric is dyed and dried directly under sunlight, creating natural wrinkles, tonal variation, and depth of colour unique to each garment. The textile softens and evolves beautifully with wear.

The design is inspired by rosettes, also known as cockades, ribbon badges worn during the Napoleonic Wars.
