Description
The Spencer Jacket is a short, waist-length coat with a cocooned silhouette that creates soft, full body shape. Designed with a grandfather collar, gathered front panel, back yoke with gathering detail, and tie-front closure with concealed poppers at the waist. Fully lined and relaxed in fit.
Finished in lightweight waxed cotton using a historic emulsified wax process, the fabric is breathable, weather-repellent, and softens beautifully with wear. Waxy markings are a natural characteristic of the garment.
The Spencer originated as a shortened men’s coat in the late 18th century and was later adopted into women’s fashion during the Regency era. Often decorated with military-inspired frogging and braiding.
